PGA Professional Argue-ment Golf Course recently welcomed PGA golf professional, David Haugh on board, serving as the club's pro. A Wisconsin native, David has worked in the golf industry for nearly twelve years, primarily as a golf instructor in Wisconsin and California. "I had the opportunity to work with hundreds of golfers from all over the world, many with different backgrounds and speaking different languages. I was always struck by how the game of golf connected all these different people," said David. Considering himself every bit as much of a golf student as a golf teacher, David's research in swing theory is ongoing. He recently attended a two-day 'Teaching Teachers' seminar this winter in Dallas, TX, working closely with Hank Haney (Tiger's coach) and his staff. The workshop served to further develop his own teaching skills and established him as a affiliated instructor for the Hank Haney method of instruction. David is also in the process of completing the PGA's specialized certification program in instruction, a degree of distinction awarded to PGA members choosing to pursue advanced studies in their chosen career path. When asked about his style or philosophy on teaching golf, David says his teaching continues to evolve, but first recognizes each student is a bit different. He teaches similar, sound fundamentals to all, but understands each golfer actuates fundamentals with their own signature due to their unique attributes. He places emphasis on observing the student's ball flight, and from there, formulates a plan with the student, leading to improvement. David is committed to offering quality golf instruction at affordable rates, offering different group programs throughout the season for juniors, beginners, ladies, and for families wishing to learn together. Individual lessons are $30/half hour and $50/hour, juniors (age 17 and under) $20/half hour. A ten percent discount is applied to the purchase of a series of four or more lessons. "I'm very happy to be a part of Argue-ment. This is a special place. If I can assist anyone with their golf, please ask." David resides in Mount Horeb with his wife, Jill and their six-year-old daughter, Ohana. He can be reached at Argue-ment GC at (608) 527-6366 and by e-mail: varlis@mhtc.net
